April 2007

Ok...It's been a while so I'll just drop a few things in point form to quickly catch up

• - my son is 9 and a half months...still cute as hell
• - Yam Roll, Episode 7B- Win Place or Toe, is going to be screened at the Platform animation festival

I am pretty excited as I think it is the only series out of Vanvouver that was chosen. I will also be speaking on a panel about blogging with some great folks. The festival should be a great time. If you are in Portland at the end of June, you should try and catch some of it for sure!!

• -Yam Roll is also gong to part of the Asian Animation Film Festival in Chicago again this year. I'll post the details here, or on the blog when I get them. Should be fun! They are screening Hone I Shrunk the Tamago...it's a killer episode!
• -I just went down to Toronto for the theartical debut of my animated series Black and White. It was part of the Toronto Childrens International Film Festival. www.sprockets.ca It was hilarious. There was about 200 kids/parents that gave 4 episodes of Black and Whit a pretty good laugh. I also did a workshop for the kids on how ro develop a cartoon for TV. IT was a crazy blast. The kids were nuts. I'm looking forward to being able to do it again next year! (fingers crossed)
• -I'm going to be involved in a couple grou shows/fund raisers in the next couple months. I'll post the details as the dates get closer

I am super excited to have been asked to submit art work for the Pictoplasma Character Design Encyclopedia. I think it comes out in late September. Go online and BUY IT:) You can check out their website at www.pictoplasma.com These guys have put together an incredible conference with killer speakers and unreal talent from around the world. I was hoping to go to the conference, but my new baby Isaac needs tending to...maybe next year! Oh ya...one of my doodles was posted under the Grapevine at www.duudle.dk. These doods are the best! Nothing better than having a doodle with tons of other serious duudlers!!!!!

Holy smokies!!! What a month. Yam Roll is finally winding down. We will be done the first season at the begining of August. Hard to believe we pumped out 78 shows! I am looking forward to seeing what the reaction is once it is aired on Cartoon Network (this fall). Now that the show is almost done we have squeaked out some time to throw up a blog. This is by no means second in the events of this month. I am a dad!!! My son Isaac was born on July 9th. Isaac and mom both did seriously well. Aside from passing out every 4 minutes I did seriously well too! Naaaa. It was all good. The dood (thank god) takes after his mom. Very cute! I'm still in Ontario directing the first season of Yam Roll. We are in the final third of production. I think we are making some pretty funny shows! Speaking of Yam Roll...if you are going down to Comicon, keep your eyes peeled for Yam Roll vinyl!!! We are having the prototypes made as we speak. They are going to be crazy hot, and will be hanging out down there with my bud Sasha. I'll keep you posted with mre info as I get it.

If you are kicking around Vancouver on the 9th of June, stop by the Little Mountain Studio (195 E.26th Ave - 604- 551-2284 or 604- 254-9952). It's run by great folks. It looks like a great space...and my art and animation will be gracing the walls with a bunch of other great artists. If it's anything like the Butcher Shop shows, it should be a great time!

I have fianlly unpacked my Sudbury house, and can get drawing again. My studio is set up and I am looking forward to being able to do my art work whenever I want. First things first though...I have to paint baby room! Our little dooder will be here in July. Not much time to have lot's of fun with the room!

ok...So the columbia street show last year was a success...here's a couple pics from the show

No updates since then cuz i have been crazy busy. A show i created with pal Jono Howard (the very good adventures of yam roll in happy kingdom) was picked up for broadcast. It will be on the air starting Feb 6. Tune into CBC at 4:30, monday thru thursday. I think it's also gonna be on saturday morning at 10:00 or 10:30 am. If you are in the states we'll be on the Cartoon Network starting in april. Hope you folks like what you see. If you come to the opening (invite is on homepage) we are going to have some Izen "Yam Roll" prints. The proceeds are going to go to charity.

As I am out in ontario right now, it would be great to see folks at our launch

I haven't had time to have any art shows...sorry folks. If you are wanting anything please give me a shout. I have been moving around a lot, so i apologize if you have emailed me and i haven't responded...I know for a fact i ahve accidentally deleted a few art emails, and not been able to retrieve them. I

I just finished the Yam Roll short...looks pretty good...I'll be posting some pics of the plush toy that was made for it....CRAZY CUTE. Thanks a million to Gen and Donny at the pharm who built the prototype

the Mad show was fantastic. It looks like we might make it into an annual event! All the folks involved are nuts, and super talented! I almost cut my thumb off --Thanks Holly!! :) It looks like Izen t-shirts are going to come around again in the future. I'll post a note when i have more for sale (Holy smokes are they cute!)

I'm showing more new drawings at the LOCUS cafe (4121 Main st.) on Monday Dec.6th. If you can't make it to the opening and you want to check it out, the show will be up for a month.

come out and support some great local artists (I am lumping myself in there as well) on Dec. 3 thru Dec. 5 at a fantastic art sale... MAD . It should be a lot of fun!

I'll try and post up some pics from my opening at Bukowskis in a bit. Thanks a million to everyone that showed up!! It was pretty nuts...and of course for those of you that were able to witness the musical stylings of Bullet Snake...it was true genius!

Thanks to Holly and Jeff for putting together a great show at the Glass Onion. It was a really fun night!! If you didn't get to the opening you should try and stop by one of these weekends.

If you are in Vancouver on August 24th (Tuesday)...stop by Bukowski's! I'll be showing a bunch of new Drawings...Bullet Snake is playing (the band formerly known as Tyler...these guys are Genius!!!!)...and i think the martini's are cheap!I also am hoping to have some Izen T Shirts printed for the Bukowski's show...I think it could stand to be a pretty fun night!!

Friday August 20th I have a new drawing in the Group show Urbanopolis at the Glass Onion Gallery. It's at 1103 Union Street...right behind the Casa Gelato...get a cup, and come by the opening. They usually have a wide range of great art work!

If you are bumming around downtown...pick up this weeks (it's june 10th today) Westender. My work is on the cover. A lot of people told me they thought they recognized the big nose when they passed by the news stand...then realized it was me!..thanks to the folks at the Westender!

I have some drawings up on the Affordable Art wall at the new Super 7 store on San Fran. Huge thanks to mark for getting my stuff up there. I think the store is basically filled with most things i love...Can't wait to get down there to check it out. If you happen to be in San Fran...go check out their new store!

The button show Hot 1" Action was hilarious. Lots of people...lot's of buttons...I think my button "Danny" was a pretty hot for a quarter sized drawing...Can't wait for the next one!

My opening at Compound 2 was on April 1st. It was tons of fun. Huge thanks to Chien, Sally and Big Joe for helping out so much. Here are a few pics from that night. Also a big thanks to the folks at just be design for showing my work! If you are around portland, the show will be up until the end if April. Hey...Happy holidays. I'm going to be hanging new drawings at the Locus restaurant...4121 Main St. (Vancouver). The opening is January 6-2004 starting around 8 pm...oh ya...and there is free beer for a while. It should be pretty fun, so try and get there!

Starting to get busy planning my wedding to "the woman of a thousand faces"...Leah Alcuitas...my hair is getting really big...

Took the last few months of 2002 off. I had my head replaced with a bionic one...still working out the bugs.

Ronald Belder and the fine people at CBC's www.120seconds.com just posted the feature on me. It will be up for a week or so...check it out!! The last flash animation is brand new for the feature!! It's called "Mr. Please Don't Rub My Tummy!!" (sorry 56k modem folks...you might have a prob) ENJOY! (as of May 17 it's off line...sorry)

My old school Vancouver Film School has asked me to sit on a panel on the topic of pitching shows... . It's on April 26th...If you're in Vancouver, come and check it out. The time and date are on the above linked page.

For the next 4-5 months I'll be working on the development of a 7 minute short for the Cartoon Network through my own company Weenie Dog Productions Inc.... Cross your fingers for me!

The Year 2001...in a nutshell

I did some animation on a R. E. M. video while at Pork and Beans Productions...pretty fun stuff! Following the video I got engaged to a very cute young woman known in Vancouver as "FLOTOS"
